“Over the past nine months, my son’s experience at Coastal Kids with Kristina has fostered incredible growth. This has been especially true in social settings, where he now displays significantly more confidence when interacting with other children and also building his independence. Story time has sparked his enthusiasm for books, and has drastically improved his ability to follow and understand plot lines. The structured environment has been wonderful with helping to prepare him for the routine-based setting of preschool, while the consistent attendance has allowed him to form friendships with other children who attend regularly. We’ve been thrilled with his improved fine motor skills, particularly in arts and crafts activities where he now confidently handles tasks involving gluing, coloring, using scissors and so much more. The most heartwarming part as a parent is to see the special bond my son has developed with Kristina, who, as his first teacher has become an important role model in his early educational journey. “The Coastal Kids classes are so fun and helpful for my son because they mimic a preschool class with a focus on playful, educational and social tasks in a condensed 45-min window. My son (almost 4 years old) struggles in social settings and sustaining attention. For a number of different reasons, participating in a classroom environment is a big challenge for him. The first couple of classes were difficult for us and I questioned if our attendance was too disruptive to the class, but we stuck with it. Though we have our moments, we have found that each week gets a bit easier. We use the Coastal Kids classes to practice foundational skills during this time when we are not able to attend preschool. Classes follow a similar pattern from week to week and this familiar routine helps my son to follow along, move more easily through transitions and focus on the task at hand. Kristina does a great job encouraging participation and engaging the individual children where they are developmentally. Through the past several weeks my son has built a rapport with Kristina and has slowly started to participate more each week, which has been great for building his confidence. I feel so grateful to have found Coastal Kids. My son gets so much value out of it and absolutely loves going.”
